Actually, it depends on the shell.
If it's green, it just pops out
If it's red, fireballs come out
If it's purple, yoshi flies.

nope not with a blue yoshi he can do all of those things when he spits them out but until then he flies

Of course I am talking about Super Mario World. That is where the blue yoshi flies with any shell.
